3. Advanced Hardware Modifications
⚠️ Disclaimer: The following modifications are intended for advanced users only.
Proceed with caution! Choosing to do these modifications will void any returns.
External Power (Bypassing the Battery)
To run the MM Panel Mini on a continuous external power source rather than the internal battery:
Carefully snip the wires leading to the battery.
Connect a stable 3.7V DC power adapter, you will most likely need to use a step down converter to achieve this voltage.
Warning: Exceeding 3.7V or will cause permanent hardware damage that is unrepairable.
Button Modifications & Removal
If your project requires a "clean" look without physical buttons, follow the protocols below. Please note that only momentary switches are supported. Regulate on/off toggle switches will not work.
Important Tips: For the button removals and modifications, we strongly recommend using heat-shrink tubing over the soldered joint to prevent short circuits. Electrical tape is a secondary alternative. To avoid accidental shorts and board damage, ensure wires are cut one at a time.
| Component | Modification Action | Resulting Behavior |
|---|---|---|
| Power | Cut wires at the button and join the red and black wires together. | Unit starts playing immediately when power is applied. |
| Play/Pause | Snip wires and insulate ends (or desolder from the board). | Button function is disabled. |
| Next/Prev | Snip wires and insulate ends (or desolder from the board). | Button function is disabled. |
| Volume +/- | Snip wires and insulate ends (or desolder from the board). | Unit locks at the last set volume level. |
